Brass repousse (embossed metal) I tarnished the brass on this one to give it an old look. The brass is 7" X 5" and it's mounted on a 9" X 7" block of wood with trim to hold it down. I aged the wood by beating it with a rough stone before staining it. This is my second celtic knotwork piece in metal. The first one was of curved flowing lines so I wanted to try one with sharp corners. I'd like to do something more complicated but I need to practice some more as this kind of thing is so easy to make mistakes on and ruin. It makes me crazy when I do that! I had trouble thinking of a name for this so I just called it what it was, a celtic impulse.

Take this to sleep with you,/My tale of dusty far-off times, When warrior hearts were true./ Then store it in your memory, And be the sage who says,/ To young ones in the years to come, "Ah yes, those were the days." Mariel of Redwall
Absolutely lovely. That weathered frame really completes it!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
