Artist's Comments

Brass repousse (embossed metal) I tarnished the brass on this one to give it an old look. The brass is 7" X 5" and it's mounted on a 9" X 7" block of wood with trim to hold it down. I aged the wood by beating it with a rough stone before staining it. This is my second celtic knotwork piece in metal. The first one was of curved flowing lines so I wanted to try one with sharp corners. I'd like to do something more complicated but I need to practice some more as this kind of thing is so easy to make mistakes on and ruin. It makes me crazy when I do that! I had trouble thinking of a name for this so I just called it what it was, a celtic impulse. ;)
